Catch Cable Damage Before the Floor Is Finished.
The EasyHeat® Warm Tiles® DT-1 Detecto™ Installation Monitor provides an audible warning if a heating cable or mat develops an electrical fault during installation. Connected before the floor is covered, it helps installers identify potential damage while the heating system is still accessible.
The DT-1 can monitor up to three heating cable or mat kits simultaneously, providing added peace of mind throughout the installation process.
Important: The DT-1 is a temporary installation monitor, not a GFCI or a substitute for required electrical testing. It is removed before the thermostat is connected.

Installation
The EasyHeat® Warm Tiles® DT-1 Detecto™ Installation Monitor helps protect your floor warming investment by continuously monitoring heating cables and mats for electrical faults during installation. If damage occurs while the heating system is being installed or covered, the DT-1 sounds an audible alarm, allowing the installer to identify potential problems before the finished flooring is installed.
Important Safety Warning
The DT-1 must only be connected to heating cables or mats that are completely disconnected from electrical power. Never connect the DT-1 to an energized heating system or apply electrical power while the monitor is connected.
The DT-1 is a battery-operated installation monitor, not a line-voltage testing device or a permanent component of the heating system.
Preparing for Installation
Before connecting the DT-1, confirm that the heating cables or mats are disconnected from all electrical power sources. Perform the electrical resistance and insulation tests required by the manufacturer and record the results.
Connecting the Monitor
With the heating system completely disconnected from power, attach the DT-1 leads to the heating cable or mat according to the manufacturer's instructions.
The DT-1 can monitor up to three compatible heating kits during installation, subject to the manufacturer's connection requirements.
Monitoring During Installation
Leave the DT-1 connected while positioning and covering the heating cables or mats, provided the heating system remains completely disconnected from electrical power.
The monitor sounds an audible alarm if it detects an open circuit, short circuit, or ground fault condition. If an alarm occurs, stop installation and investigate the cause before proceeding.
The DT-1 does not replace required electrical resistance testing, insulation testing, or GFCI protection.
Completing the Installation
Once installation and the required electrical tests are complete, disconnect the DT-1 before making permanent electrical connections or energizing the heating system.
Never apply power to the heating cables or mats while the DT-1 is connected.
Before You Begin
Review the complete EasyHeat® DT-1 operating instructions before use. Proper connection, electrical testing, and continuous monitoring during installation can help identify cable damage early and prevent costly repairs after the finished flooring is installed.
